Wallet Woes

A friend saw my wallet tonight, was alarmed by its thickness, and on the spot gave me a wallet purchased as a gift for someone else. I tried to reject the gift, but was rebuffed. I was given the wallet along with some words of counsel, apparently taken from "The Prince" by Machiavelli. In English, the advice would be rendered "Divide and Conquer."
