Moon River

ROCKVILLE, Maryland (AP) - A Maryland man charged with flashing his bare buttocks at his neighbour during an argument has avoided a possible three year prison sentence after a judge ruled that the act was tasteless, but legal. Judge John W. Debelius III - overturning an earlier decision by another judge - said what Raymond Hugh McNealy reportedly did was a "disgusting" and "demeaning" act . . . McNealy's neighbour, Nanette Vonfeldt, accused him of yelling at her and threatening to "blow up my building" as she and her daughter walked out of their apartment. The two had a heated meeting the night before at the home owner's association, according to McNealy's lawyers, and McNealy wanted Vonfeldt off the board, The Washington Post reported in its Wednesday edition. "Then, for whatever reason, in full view of my daughter, he mooned us," Vonfeldt wrote in court documents, referring to the act of flashing the bare buttocks. McNealy was charged with indecent exposure, a charge upheld by a trial court judge. But McNealy appealed, arguing that state law only covers displays of a person's "private parts," which does not include the buttocks . . . McNealy lawyer James Maxwell said the Debelius ruling should "bring comfort to all beachgoers and plumbers" in the state.
